After the great response to the last round of funding, Sustainable Hockerton is pleased to announce a second offer of £200 to every household and business in the parish for energy and water saving measures.
If you want ideas, in-depth surveys of 3 Hockerton homes found ways to save money and make homes more comfortable (and summaries can be viewed on our refreshed website http://sustainablehockerton.org). Examples taken up by residents in the last round include:
- loft insulation
- 5 households put their funds together towards a shared solar PV system
- switching to LED lights
- thermally-lined curtains and blinds
- water efficient shower heads
- water butts
This offer is a thank you to the village for hosting the wind turbine, and to deliver on Sustainable Hockerton's commitment to help improve the economic and environmental sustainability of the parish by reducing bills, carbon emissions and resource use. Sustainable Hockerton will refund you against receipts provided by 31 March 2017. We also ask you to provide us with a short comment on what you have used the cash for and why, so we can hear gems such as this...
I have now rebulbed the whole house. Has certainly made a difference – my 32 day electricity consumption for Nov-Dec period appears to be 25% below annual average for a month which given it is a winter month is fantastic!! Thanks to SHOCK for encouraging me to make the change
Please see the attached document ( /admin/resources/hockerton-shock-offer-june-2016-1.pdf ), contact firstname.lastname@example.org or call 01636 816902 to find out more or claim your cash. SHOCK will be circulating a hard copy of the attached so it gets to everyone, but if you know of residents not on email, please do pass the offer on.
We have used the fund twice now, once for some thermal lined curtains for our old patio doors which helped reduce the draft and the loss of heat. The second we put towards replacing all the old windows with more energy efficient ones , reducing heat loss and stemming noise pollution.
Finally, Sustainable Hockerton continues to maintain a fund for larger projects, with ideas always welcome.
