Some of The Rustic Crust's regulars are prepared to queue for up to an hour for a freshly made to order pizza... and they're coming to Farnsfield soon! Yum, yum.
With their specially converted Landrover Defender, affectionately named "Poppy"; Ross & Camille Oliver have gained a reputation for great-tasting authentic Neapolitan pizzas with 'pop-up' stalls, at weddings and corporate events across the county. If you experienced them recently at Farnsfield's old Co-op you will know just how mouth-wateringly tasty their pizzas are.
Having toured the County for over 4 years with Poppy, Ross & Camille are now gearing up to open a 50-seat family-friendly pizzeria at the former Co-op, in Main Street, Farnsfield. Plans have been submitted to Newark and Sherwood District Council (ref 19/00208/ful).
Ross and Camille told Hockerton.com: ""We want nice surroundings where families can come down and eat really good pizza".
The Rustic Crust made its debut at an event in Sneinton and has gone on to cater for around 50 weddings a year - earning recognition as a regional finalist in the Wedding Industry Awards, this year and last - as well as corporate events, and markets at Nottingham Trent University.
Pizza fans can also find them at pop-ups at their local pub, the Brown Cow in Mansfield, Sherwood Business Park in Annesley, and Trent Bridge Cricket Ground; and more recently, Farnsfield old Co-op.
Ross told Hockerton.com; "I was never even a fan of pizza until we went to Rome. When we came back I had to build a pizza oven in the back garden".Ross is now a bit of an expert in hand-pulling and hand-tossing dough, which is covered in the finest Italian tomatoes and topped with imported spicy sausage and 'proper' pepperoni, slow-cooked lamb ragu or vegan-friendly ingredients such as cashew ricotta.
There's good news for thier legion of fans around the county too because the restaurant will not be forcing Poppy the Pizza Truck into retirement any time soon. She will be out on the road as usual.
The name, The Rustic Crust, was inspired by the way the pizza crust bubbles up during the 90 seconds it takes to cook in the 500°C oven.
With 5 star reviews from their satiated fans; Ross, 48, said: "We know our customers by name and it has been brilliant". To aid the planning application Hockerton.com will be submitting a positive supportive comment to email@example.com - Ross & Camille hope more Hockerton residents will too and they hope to see and serve you soon.
The planning application has been submitted to NSDC - let's give the planners some nice comments to read instead of the objections / concerns they must be inundated with usually. If you would like to comment then please email firstname.lastname@example.org with the ref 19/00208/ful
